Art is a unique field because it requires more than just knowledge to succeed in the arts. There has to be some sense of creativity there that is then cultivated and trained on top of a formal knowledge of the field. It is also an expression of raw emotions, of culture, or of virtually any idea. The arts are well worth supporting, and just about everyone is an arts appreciator in some form or fashion, but very few actually put their money, time, and effort into actively supporting the arts.

Baryn Futa is an appreciator of the contemporary arts, specifically. He discovered an interest in contemporary arts after his retirement. He sought to cultivate this interest by first getting involved with the Denver Art Museum. He is now a member of the Collection Committee for the Denver Art Museum, in addition to being a member of the institution. Baryn Futa then pursued his interest in the arts, especially in the contemporary arts, in other ways. He went on group art trips, visited art fairs often, and began collecting art on his own. Baryn Futa believed that by furthering his knowledge of the arts, he could better inform himself about what to collect and support.

Today Baryn Futa is a major supporter of the contemporary arts. He has supported dozens of artists and is a member of around a dozen museums in the United States, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim. He even loans pieces from his collection out to museums on occasion.
